Carte Blanche Greetings has announced that it has acquired the license to produce Simon’s Cat licensed plush products, after a deal was struck earlier in spring with the character’s creator, British animator Simon Tofield.
The initial plush collection will be launched in October 2011 and will include a mini key-chain line and sound-chip plush in a variety of different sizes.
The head of marketing at Carte Blanche Greetings, Jocasta Kelsey, said that: “Fans from all over the world fell in love with this adorable and anarchic comical cat when he launched himself online a few years ago. We are therefore, absolutely delighted to be working on the fantastic Simon’s Cat brand with the [licensing agent] Zodiak Rights team and look forward to launching our range of plush product.”
The award-winning Simon’s Cat also has another licensor on board in the form of Only 4 U, which is to produce a collection of tote bags, travel accessories, glassware and food storage. Products in these categories are set to launch from early 2012.
Simon’s Cat is an animated cartoon series featuring a hungry house cat who uses increasingly heavy-handed tactics to get its owner to feed it.
