Max Hernn was the first artist published by Lip International back in 1984. A surreal range of black and white postcards and prints were produced and sold to gift shops and galleries around Europe. When the company moved from photography to acrylic, Max changed his role to art directing a team of young artists and designers based in Manchester. In 2001, Max persuaded his publisher to move back to photography and embrace the digital age. From 2002 to the present day, Max has been indulging himself in the world of BIKINI. Max’s images are predominantly made up of his own photographs fused with vintage negatives he has been avidly collecting for years. He 
works above his garage to the sound of the very best in ambient music and surrounded by the clutter of old macs that have served him well in the quest to create a world that he would like to have visited but didn’t know where to look. E78
