Busquets joins forces with Paper Trail for Cards and More

Paper Trail Cards, a venture founded by former Paperclip UK manager Rob Stewart and designer Craig Harford at the start of 2012, has joined forces with long-standing Barcelona-based publisher Busquets to found the Cards and More trading partnership.

The first outing for the new company was at the PG Live greetings card exhibition taking place in London.

A direct-to-retail publisher of traditional cards and stationery, Busquets has a long history of creating greetings products for its homeland in Barcelona and has also been trading in the UK for upwards of 25 years. Both Busquets and the contemporary card publisher Paper Trail will retain their separate brand names and identities while trading under the new name of Cards for More.

Rob Stewart will lead the UK operations of the new company, which he says has enormous potential given the combined strength and complementary aspects of the brands. Speaking of the venture Rob commented: “I saw a lot of potential in this partnership. I have a new company that needs to grow and Busquets has a lot of heritage that we can draw on, plus the huge advantage of its own manufacturing facility in Barcelona. So from our creative base in the UK we can get everything printed ourselves and also create bespoke and own-brand products for clients.”

With former Paperclip designer Craig in control of the creative side the new business venture, Rob says there is a strong focus on developing great new products that are ideal for the requirements of the UK’s world-leading greetings card market.

“This is also an opportunity for Busquets to have a fresh start in the UK”, Rob continued saying. They have a good customer base and are very strong on traditional product. They also manufacture a lot of stationery and I see big opportunities for us to produce upmarket stationery and exclusive lines for clients, while the Busquets line will be honed down and the best designs developed and refreshed further for the UK.”
