Said The Giftware Association’s chief executive Isabel Martinson: “Gift of the Year at Spring Fair International sends a message that Britain’s gift and home industry is very definitely alive and kicking. Last year, entrants rose to the challenges created by the difficult economic climate, submitting a wonderfully eclectic range of products to meet the needs of retailers and consumers.
“This year, we are seeing companies entering for the first time as suppliers appreciate that winning the competition can boost their sales and give their products more publicity and credibility.”

It therefore makes perfect sense that the industry’s biggest platform for launching new product should once again showcase the many fine products that have been judged by retailers to be the best.”
A new category, Gifts for Men, has been introduced to Gift of the Year 2013, while the Outdoor Living category becomes Garden & Outdoor Living.
If there is a stand-out product amongst the 17 categories, it will be awarded The Judges’ Choice prize and also a free stand at Autumn Fair International 2013, presented by show organiser i2i Events Group.
Martin Grix, director of the Monster Factory, which took The Judge’s Choice award in 2012 for the VW Campervan Tent, said: “Winning Gift of the Year has been great. It definitely helps sales and it’s given us a lot of kudos.
“Because it’s a licensed product it also helps me with the brand holder, Volkswagen, who is delighted. Being a German company they really respect awards. It’s a win-win. We have put the winner’s branding on the side of the Campervan Tent and they loved seeing that at the New York and German shows. We also feature it on our flyers, email headers and even our sales sheets.”
Visitors to the Gift of the Year House at Spring Fair will be able to view the products that are the finalists in all categories, which are as follow:
Branded/Character, Body, Mind and Soul, Card and Wrap, Collect It, Eco Friendly, Fashion Jewellery and Accessories, Home Accessories, Hot Novelty, Kitchen and Dining, Kids, Premium/Luxury, Made in UK, Gifts for Men, Occasions, Garden & Outdoor Living, Stationery and Under £10.
