Tropical Paradise!

MLS0002beeeatersTF HRAWith the excitement surrounded by the World Cup, Yellow House couldn’t resist bringing you a post dedicated to the tropical Samba lifestyle. It is time indeed to revel in the heat and welcome the summer light into our lives!

Brazil is inspiring more than football enthusiasts this season. Bold, wild, exotic designs have arrived with a big bang! Tropical heat, flower power, and vibrant scenery are all a major part of fashion, interior design, and product trends for 2014/2015.

Tropical themes traditionally include a combination of green and blue with bursts  of yellow, orange, and pink. Loud, bright imagery can be used selectively to add touches of vibrancy without being over-bearing. The trick is all in minimizing the use of this trend to create a cool, classic yet exotic look.

MLS0047hornbillsTFHRAYellow House artists have been keen to take on this theme; Ken Eardley’s ‘Two Love-Birds’ shows how a limited palette can create something bright yet understated whilst Mary Stubberfield’s painting of Birds and Flowers of Paradise conjure up glorious bird-sound of tropical jungles. Prolific painter Jane Askey’s floral still life expresses the quirky possibilities of this trend, juxtaposing floral and scenery in unusual ways.

Lisa Spencer’s jazzy textile designs are perfect for dancing in the street – let the tournament begin!
