Robot Brands launches into Virtual Reality

SHOP IMAGE SMALLNew urban lifestyle brand, Robot Brands, is to transform one of Old Street’s best pop-up locations into a futuristic interactive shopper experience throughout August 2016.

The unique pop-up will take over one of the most prominent sites at London’s Old Street underground station, where retail innovation takes centre stage and footfall reaches up to 70,000 per day.

Robot Brands’ founding partners, Carole Kavanagh and Richard Claydon, will energise the Old Street site with an edgy contemporary design and multi-media in-store experience. A specially created soundtrack mixed by legendary underground DJ and record producer, Kelvin Andrews will feature throughout the event.URI 2

Every Thursday from August 11 shoppers can enjoy a virtual reality robot experience via specialist provider GIZMO Animation, which will be on site at the pop-up from 14.00 – 20.00pm.  Users will be invited to explore the inevitable rise of the robot across various walks of human life.

Other in-store features will include a Robot Brand-ed whiskey dispenser, customised skateboards and a life-sized version of Uri the Robot, the original proprietary character of this exciting lifestyle concept.

Visitors will be encouraged to take selfies with Uri and help generate a social media sensation for the duration of the event, which will be supported by Old Street’s in-house marketing and PR team.

The idea for Robot Brands was born when Kavanagh became fascinated by the evolving relationship between humans and robots during successive visits to Japan, where robots are already integrated into everyday life. The fledgling company operates from bases in London and Los Angeles and trades via e-Commerce sites on either side of the Atlantic.

Kavanagh, who has a long and successful career in consumer brand development behind her, comments:  “I’m incredibly excited to be launching Robot Brands at such an iconic London shopping destination, which benefits from some of the highest footfall in the capital. Robots are on track to become part of everyday life in the very near future and our brand is unique in its focus on the lifestyle aspects of this seismic cultural shift.

“Myself and my business partner Richard are delighted to invite anyone who’s interested to come along to our Old Street pop-up experience, so they can see for themselves how robots might shape their lives in years to come.”

SINGULARITY PICThe initial product launch will include adult and kids’ apparel, mobile accessories, giftware and stationery.  Kavanagh and Claydon will also explore licensing opportunities for their versatile brand.
