The Trump Duck displayed on the Yarto stand at Spring Fair caused uproar when one visitor threatened to burn it!
“He wasn’t even American but got very angry indeed,” said managing director Michael Grant. “We’ve had a mixed reaction to the duck, but most people have a good laugh when they see it and whether they love Trump or hate him, they still want to buy it.”
The appearance of the Trump Duck sparked “a lot of interesting political debate” on the stand. In the UK it is sold as part of the Yarto Bath Ducks range under the banner, ‘Make America Quack Again’, while in the US it will be supported by the message, ’Make America Trump Again’.
Michael adds: “I dreamed up the idea of the Trump Duck when he was campaigning for the presidency as I thought he would characterise quite well.
“It’s designed in-house and as soon as he was elected we tooled it up as fast as we could and got out the prototype. After having lots of pre-sales, we’ve sold loads of them at the show.”
Is he worried about the reaction of American buyers when he takes the Trump Duck to a US trade show in the spring? “Not really. I’m sure that most people will find it funny,” he says, before adding with a smile: “But I will take the precaution of wearing a bullet-proof vest!”
