This is the third year that the company has sponsored the Polocrosse sport under its Juliana giftware brand. Over £2,000 of gifts were donated by the company as Championship and raffle prizes which raised funds for the Air Ambulance. And to cap off a fantastic weekend, the whole Championship was won by the Celyn Club from Wales of which one of Widdop’s Directors, Chris Illingworth, is Vice Chairman and a member of the runners up team in the D grade which ended with a very exciting golden goal play-off won by the host Rugby team.
The sporting contest came hot on the heels of a major exhibition showcase for Widdop Bingham at Autumn Fair International, which saw the launch of the company’s most significant ever licensed gift range in partnership with Animal Planet. The presentation of the 50 SKU gift range drew large crowds as live owls and lizards were brought in to unveil the colourful and lively Animal Planet concept..
This is the biggest licensing deal in the 130-year history of the Widdop Bingham business and the company is investing heavily in the collection that celebrates the animal kingdom and encourages children to learn about animals and the natural world around them. Phase 1 of the product roll-out includes ceramic mugs, figurines and wall plaques; Phase 2 will roll out in 2014 and will include children’s gifts, stationery and puzzles.
